If you’ve been feeling unproductive lately, you’re not alone. With social distancing practices still in effect, it can seem like things that normally were quick tasks are now a huge ask. Add a family, roommates, or pets on top of that, and you’ve got several distractions throughout the day. You still love ‘em, sure, but they might stop you from achieving everything you want to. Luckily, today’s guest is a master of organization and productivity, and she loves helping people out.

I’m chatting with Nettie Owens, founder of Sappari Solutions and Momentum Accountability. Nettie has always had a knack for working with people, coordinating projects and helping folks get things done. She’s got plenty of good insights to share in this episode, from how to organize your life and workspace – both personally and professionally – and ways to use productivity accountability in your goal-setting to accomplish big things for your business. Take good notes because you’re gonna learn lots!

.

Highlights of our conversation include:

  • Nettie’s career journey to professional organizing and productivity accountability and why she finds that’s kind of a bizarre question to answer. (2:15)

  • One of the surprising things from her childhood that Nettie still owns. (7:22)

  • The importance of creating an environment around you that makes you feel amazing and inspired. (9:43)

  • How Nettie has supported her clients and their businesses in a new remote working world, offering a business mindset shift for how to work in a home office – with all kinds of human and pet distractions – to take accountability and accomplish workplace goals. (10:50)

  • Tools that Nettie recommends for effective remote work, including Zoom, Voxer, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Streamyard. She also dives into why using the productivity tools that work best is so important, and why your business needs a plan for communication. (14:30)

  • The incredibly ridiculous way I came up with my original Skype username. (19:48)

  • Why you should use your friend or business colleague as an accountability partner. (21:43)

  • What’s most surprised Nettie about shifting into a career in productivity accountability, plus her biggest warning for anyone trying to learn how to organize a home. (30:26)

  • Nettie’s top steps to productivity. She also adds in a few of the things not to do if you want to know how to people more productive. (35:20)
